Deep depression over Bay, sky to remain partly cloudy

No cautionary signal to be hoisted, says BMD

A depression that formed in the southwest Bay and the adjoining areas has turned into a deep depression, Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has said.

However, it may not have any significant impact on Bangladesh, it added. 

The weather may remain dry with partly cloudy sky over some places in Chittagong and Barisal, the BMD report added.

“No cautionary signal will be hoisted, as most of the depression is currently on the Indian side. Hence, some parts in Chittagong and Barisal may see cloudy sky,” Meteorologist Nazmul Haque told Bangla Tribune. 

The depression moved north-northwestwards and intensified into a deep depression and stayed centred over the same area at 6am on Saturday.

It was centred about 1,615km of south-southwest of the Chittagong port, 1,565km south-southwest of the Cox’s Bazar port, 1,495km south-southwest of the Mongla port and 1,495km south-southwest of the Payra port, reports UNB.

Meanwhile, The highest temperature was recorded at 35°C in Teknaf on Saturday.
