Police have detained a man for killing his wife in Kapasia Upazila of Gazipur.
The man, Jashim Uddin, admitted to killing his wife Sumaiya Akhter, 19, over a family feud.
After killing her, Jashim wrapped the body with a piece of cloth and kept it under the bed.
According to the victim’s family members, the couple got married in 2021.
On Sunday, Sumaiya’s family members went to visit the couple at Jashim’s house. They sensed that Jashim and his family members were hiding something and were acting differently. At one point, Sumaiya’s family members called 999 to seek help from the police.
Police recovered the body from under a bed of Jashim’s house on Monday and detained the husband.
Jashim, during primary interrogation, said that he had strangled his wife to death.
The body was sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College for an autopsy.
Police said they were preparing to lodge a case over the murder.
