Update : 19 Feb 2022, 10:17 PM

Law enforcers have recovered the blood-stained body of a sub-inspector (SI) of police on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Comilla’s Daudkandi upazila.

The deceased was identified as Jahangir Alam, 45, hailing from Sherpur district.

Highway Comilla Region Superintendent of Police Rahmat Ullah confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.

Zahurul Haque, officer-in-charge (OC) of Daudkandi Highway police, said that Jahangir was on duty at the Daudkandi Toll Plaza of the Dhaka-Chittagong highway on Friday night.

The OC suspects that Jahangir could have been run over by a vehicle on the highway.

“Upon hearing the news, I immediately went there and took Jahangir to Gauripur Health Complex where doctors on duty pronounced him dead,” he added.

He said that the family of the deceased was informed of the matter and that they were preparing to file a case over the SI’s death.

Police said they have filed a cause over the incident.
