Rohingya man among 2 held with 2kg Ice in Chittagong

Police say this is the largest haul of Ice in Chittagong

Satkania police on Friday arrested two people including a Rohingya with 2kg crystal meth or Ice worth Tk10 crore.

The duo were identified as truck driver Faisal Ahmed, 36, son of Gura Mia from Baharchhara area of Teknaf, and his assistant Jahed Alam, 22, son of Anjur Hossain of Kutupalong Rohingya camp

They were arrested from in front of a filling station in the Temuhani area of Satkania during a drive, Satkania-Lohagara Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Zakaria Rahman Jiku said.

Police say this is the largest haul of the highly addictive stimulant drug in Chittagong.

On the primary interrogation, arrestees said that the owner of the vehicle was also involved in drug peddling. 

A case was filed against three people, including the two, under the Narcotics Control Act.

Satkania police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Anwar Hossain said that two packets containing the drugs had been kept hidden inside the air-cooler of the mini truck. 

“We will find out the source and destination of these drugs. This is the largest consignment of crystal meth in Chittagong,” he added.
