Ansar al-Islam member held in Moulvibazar

The arrestee and his accomplices used to propagate the extremist ideology of Ansar al-Islam online

The Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) of police has arrested an active member of the banned militant outfit Ansar al-Islam from Jagannathpur village in Moulvibazar Sadar.

The arrestee was identified as Md Azizur Rahman Jahin,18, son of Md Ataur Rahman Jagannathpur village, a press release said.

A team of ATU nabbed him around 4am on Wednesday.

The arrestee and his accomplices regularly met at secret places in different parts of Moulvibazar district and continued to propagate the extremist ideology of Ansar al-Islam online.

The law enforces also recovered one android mobile phone, two SIM cards and a large number of extremist books, training and strategy manuals, soft copies of leaflets, preserved videos, printed books and books from his possession.

A case was filed in this connection.
