A police constable committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree in Maniknagar area of Rangamati sadar upazila on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Joy Dey, son of Ranjit Dey of Chittagong district.
Quoting other police members, Mir Modasser Hossain, superintendent of Rangamati police, said Joy was attracted to a girl and used to fight with her over phone.
Joy took his own life at the Arshinagar police camp as the girl refused his proposal, he added.
An unnatural death case will be filed in this connection, according to police.
