The Covid-19 situation is worsening in the Mymensingh district by the day.
Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH) logged 30 new Covid-related deaths in the past 24 hours, the highest single-day death at the hospital.
Of the 30, 16 had tested positive for Covid-19, while 14 had symptoms of the virus, said Dr Mohiuddin Khan Moon, a spokesperson for the Covid unit on Monday.
Of the deceased, 12 were from Mymensingh, nine from Netrakona, four from Jamalpur, two from Tangail and one each from Gazipur, Sunamganj and Sherpur districts.
Meanwhile, 525 patients are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital’s Covid unit, of whom 23 are in the intensive care unit, said the officials.
As many as 1,711 samples were screened at the hospital’s PCR lab during and 402 tested positive.
