A fire has burnt to ashes around 30 warehouses of fabric scraps left over from ready-made garment factories, locally known as "jhut," in Gazipur's Tongi.
The warehouses located at a slum in the Millgate area caught fire around 3:15am on Saturday, just 30 hours after another warehouse located inside the premises of Olympia Textile Mill was gutted in the same neighbourhood.

No casualty was reported in the latest incident.
Eight firefighting units — three from Tongi station of the Fire Service and Civil Defence, and five others from Uttara and headquarters — brought the fire under control after two hours of frantic efforts, said Deputy Assistant Director Niaz Ahmed of Fire Service.
The cause of the fire and losses could not be known immediately, he added.
