Police recovered snatched arms and ammunition in an abandoned state from Mirearhat hilly area under Hathazari upazila of the district today.
According to police sources, a pistol with ammunition was snatched from a Hathazari policeman during a clash between the police and the activists of Hefazat-e-Islam on March 26, reports BSS.

A case was filed with Hathazari police station in this connection.
The Islamist hardliner group went on a rampage for three days starting Marc 26 centering Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Dhaka visit marking the Independence Day of Bangladesh.
They clashed with the police and destroyed a number of government properties mainly in Chittagong’s Hathazari upazila, Brahmanbaria, Dhaka’s Paltan area and Narayanganj.

Several members of the radical group died after police opened fire in retaliation. A number of policemen were also injured during the series of violence, which caused the law enforcers to immediately initiate a crackdown on the Hefazat top brass.
