Police have arrested an army soldier on charges of trying to rape a young woman at a hotel in Sylhet and raping her multiple times in the past.
The accused was later handed over to Military Police.
SK Ragib Uddin, son of Raich Uddin of Nunai area of Tahirpur upazila in Sunamganj, was held by locals at Hotel Majlish when they came to help the girl hearing her screams around 9:30pm on Sunday. Police went to the spot after being informed by the people.

Kotwali police station OC SM Abu Farhad said that a case had been filed against Ragib Uddin. According to the survivor, he had raped the girl multiple times in the past.
The girl was admitted to the One-Stop Crisis Center of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College and Hospital.
