The father of national cricket team player Nasum Ahmed has been missing for nearly two weeks.
Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) disclosed the matter through a press release on Wednesday, saying Md Akkas Ali, 56, left his home at Sylhet city’s Pashchim Pir Moholla area on April 30.
“He left home around 10am. When he did not return, the relatives started searching for him. After days of failed attempts, they reported him missing at the Airport police station on Tuesday,” said the release.
it said Nasum, a left-arm spinner on the Bangladesh cricket team, filed the general dairy (GD), which has already been circulated to all adjoining police stations.
According to the GD, Akkas Ali is 5’3’’ tall and has a short grey beard with a brown skin complexion.
He was wearing a half-sleeved T-shirt and a black lungi (traditional wear for Bangladeshi men) when he left home.
Talking to Dhaka Tribune on Thursday, a worried Nasum said they were still looking for his missing father.
Contacted, Airport police Sub-Inspector Lokman said: “We are investigating this with utmost importance. All the other police stations here have been informed.”
Cricketer Nasum made his T20I debut for Bangladesh against New Zealand on March 28 this year.
