Road crash kills man out to buy medicine

An unidentified vehicle hit the victim while he was crossing the road

A man was killed in a road accident in Dhaka while he was on his way to purchase medicine for his wife. 

The deceased was identified as Sannyasi Debnath, 60, hailing from the Kalukhali village in Rajbari upazila of Faridpur district. 

After the accident, Sannyasi was rushed to the emergency department of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital, in a critical condition. 

He was pronounced dead by the on-duty doctor at 9:20pm on Thursday.

Sumon, the deceased's nephew, said Dipti, Debnath's wife, was admitted to the Suhrawardy Hospital in Dhaka a week ago due to problems she was having with her hand. 

One of her hands needed to be amputated as well due to the complications, he added. 

He said Debnath was seriously injured when he was hit by an unidentified vehicle while crossing the road on the opposite side of the hospital to purchase medicine for Dipti.

He was later rescued and taken to hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead, he added.

Debnath was the father of two sons and one daughter.
