Over a hundred houses were damaged when heavy rains accompanied by hailstorm and gusty wind hit Netrakona’s Sadar upazila in the early hours of Tuesday.
Based on preliminary reports received from storm-hit areas, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Netrakona Kazi Mohammad Abdur Rahman told BSS that the hailstorm, which lasted for about fifteen minutes, damaged over a hundred mud and tin-shed houses in the upazila.
Crops and vegetables in the fields were also damaged by the storm, he added.
“We are working to get a complete picture of the losses caused by the natural calamity,” the DC said, adding that storm affected people will be given financial assistance from the government.
