At least three people were killed on Friday after being run over by a bus on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway.
The deceased have been identified as Abu Bakkar Siddique, 20, Wahidul, 32, and Sajib Sarkar, 28.
The accident occurred near the Kanchpur Bridge on the highway, police said.
According to witnesses, a bus had lost control and ran over three pedestrians while trying to overtake another bus, killing the three people on the spot.
A Kanchpur Highway Police unit rushed to the spot and recovered the dead bodies upon receiving the information.
Police have seized both buses, but their drivers and assistants managed to flee.
The bodies have been sent to the morgue of Narayanganj General Hospital, Kachpur Highway police station OC Md Monirujjaman said, adding that legal action in this connection would be taken soon.
