As a cold wave continues to sweep through northern Bangladesh, the met office has issued a forcast saying the cold wave will continue to grip the northern region for the next few days, with at least two more cold spells likely to strike this month alone
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) recorded the lowest temperature in the country in Tetulia, Panchagarh on Friday, at 7.6°C.
Sreemangal, Naogaon, Dinajpur, Dimla, Rajarhat and Chuadanga are among the worst-affected areas and districts where the cold spell has prevailed for the last two weeks.
“The temperature remains comparatively low during the winter in some specific parts in the north. The cold spell might continue in some places for two or three more days,” said meteorologist Md Arif Hossain.

The temperature, he said, might go down again in the next few days as the mercury usually remains low in January.
According to the met office, there may be two or three mild to moderate cold waves, and two of which may intensify in January.
Dry weather may prevail throughout the country on Saturday, the met office predicted, adding that mild to dense fog may occur at river estuaries from midnight to morning, but mild fog may appear in other parts of the country.
Bangladesh normally experiences bone-chilling cold from mid-December to early February, with multiple cold spells hitting the country during this period.
