The lowest temperature of the country was recorded at 7.1°C at Tetulia in Panchagarh on Tuesday, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
Panchagarh district has been experiencing the lowest temperature for the last three days until Tuesday.
Earlier, the minimum temperature of 7.5°C and 7.0˚C was recorded at Tetulia (Panchagarh) on Monday and Sunday respectively.
Tetulia, the last border town in Bangladesh’s north, is no stranger to extreme cold.
On January 8 last year, mercury fell to 2.6˚C in Tetulia, the lowest-ever recorded temperature in Bangladesh’s history.
Meanwhile, Dhaka’s minimum temperature was recorded 12.8˚C on Tuesday, said a Met office bulletin commencing around 9 am today.
Weather may remain dry over the country. Moderate to thick fog may occur at places over the river basins of the country and light to moderate fog may occur at places elsewhere over the country during midnight to morning .
Mild cold wave is sweeping over the regions of Gopalganj, Comilla, Tetulia, Rajarhat, and Chuadanga and it may continue.
Night and day temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
Ridge of sub-continental high extends up to West Bengal and adjoining areas. Seasonal low lies over South Bay.
