A man reportedly hacked his mother to death with an axe in Chauddagram upazila of Comilla on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Khairun Nesa, the wife of late Anwar Ullah of Pashakot village of the upazila.
The accused Abu Bakar, 30, was a member of BDR [ later renamed Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB). He was convicted and jailed in the case over the massacre during the BDR mutiny in 2009.
Police arrested him after the murder incident took place in Pashakot village of Chauddagram on Sunday afternoon.
Confirming the arrest, Chauddagram police station Inspector Shubho Ranjan Chakma said Abu will be sent to jail through court on Monday.
Locals said Abu became mentally unstable after he was released from jail. Due to his condition, his wife began to stay at her father's house with their daughter.
On Sunday, he hacked his mother to death while she was in Zuhr prayers. Locals beat up Abu after the incident and handed him over to police.
