The Netrakona Municipality will be brought under CCTV surveillance in order to curb crimes and ensure social safety, said the district’s Superintendent of Police Akbar Ali Munshi.
The SP has come up with the decision during the meeting of the district’s Law and Order Review Committee.
Akbar Ali Munshi said: “I presented the initiative in the meeting of the district’s Law and Order Review Committee. Political personalities, public representatives, and the members of civil society present there lauded the initiative.
“Initially, several important areas including Mukatarpara, Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Office of the Superintendent of Police, Kurpar, Boro Bazar, Mesua Bazar, Teri Bazar, and Satpai rail crossing will be brought under the facility,” said Akbar Ali Munshi.
“The other important areas will be brought under CCTV surveillance in phases,” he said
“If anyone tries to do illegal activities including drug business, murder and theft, it will be recorded on CCTV cameras. So the criminals will remain in fear. Besides, eve teasing and sexual harassment will decline,” the SP added.
