Container transport to and from Chittgong port has resumed as workers of prime mover-trailers postponed their work abstention for 17 hours.
Confirming the matter to the Dhaka Tribune, Abu Bakar Siddique, general secretary of Chittagong Prime Mover Trailer Sramik Union said that they postponed their strike for 17 hours from 6pm on Saturday following request from the administration.
“A negation meeting will be held at the office of ASP (Sitakunda circle) at 11am on Sunday. We will resume the strike if the issues are not resolved from the negotiation meeting,” said he.

Earlier prime mover/ trailer workers abstained from work and began an indefinite strike from Saturday morning to push home their five-point demand.
Their demand includes receiving appointment letters, establishing a minimum wage structure, and reinstating some of their fellow workers terminated by a transport company.
Shipment of export-import containers between Chittagong Port and 19 private inland container depots (ICDs) remained suspended due to the strike.
According to the Bangladesh Inland Container Depot Association (BICDA), there are around 8,000 prime movers-trailers across the country.
