DU student among 3 killed in Cox’s Bazar road accident

The accident occurred on Sunday afternoon when a Cox’s Bazar bound covered van rammed into a motorcycle carrying the three youths in Chakaria upazila

At least three people including a Dhaka University student have been killed in a road accident on the Cox's Bazar-Chittagong highway near Chakaria upazila.

The accident took place in the Jindabazar area of the upazila on Sunday afternoon around 2pm when a Cox's Bazar bound covered van rammed into a motorcycle carrying the three youths, police sources confirmed. 

The deceased are Amzad Hossain Rifat, 22, a student of Dhaka University who hailed from Alipur village, Mohammed Tarek Niloy, 22, and Tanjilur Rahman, 19, hailing from Bazarpara of Harbang union. 

Rifat and Niloy, who are friends, died on the spot while Tanjilur died in Chittagong Medical College and Hospital. 

Confirming the incident, Chiringa Highway police outpost in-charge Inspector Anisur Rahman said: “Police have seized the covered van and motorcycle of the accident. 

“Legal action regarding the accident is being taken,” Anisur Rahman added.
