An eye-catching park is being built on 20 acres of land at Borobazar area on the bank of Gorai River in Kushtia in order to give the dwellers a place to breathe fresh air.
Thousands of coconut and mango trees have been planted outside the park surrounded by a huge boundary wall. Various kinds of foreign and local flower saplings have been planted inside the park to give it a greener look.
Four years back, the Kushtia Zilla Parishad took the initiative and started to build the park on the bank of Gorai River.
People can go inside the park through two entrances. Several roundabouts decorated with flower trees are also being built in the park. There are many facilities along with the parking lots the locals can avail of once the park is completed, said Zilla Parishad’s administrative officer Shahinuzzaman.
He said: “Around 6000 trees have already been planted in the park. Gradually, many more trees of various species will be planted. We are also planting various species of flower saplings.”
Regarding the park, Zilla Pasrishad chairman Hazi Robiul Islam, said: “We are not building this park for commercial purpose. We are implementing the project as per the plan of our leader Mahbubul Alam Hanif, MP. We have already spent over Tk6 crore.”
“It will take a few more years to complete the park. Once the park is completed it will be a piece of green land in the heart of Kushtia town.” he said
“We planned to build the park beside the Gorai River so that visitors can get a different feeling when they come to the park.” the chairman added.
