Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Tangail Md Ataul Gani has tested positive for the coronavirus infection.
The result of his Covid-19 test came out positive on Tuesday morning, sources at the district's health department confirmed.
The deputy commissioner is now doing well and staying at his residence, they said.
On Monday, three officials at the DC office tested positive for the viral disease which is why Ataul Gani gave samples for the test.
The samples were sent to Dhaka on the same day, the sources said.
On July 8, Ataul Gani joined as the deputy commissioner in Tangail and prior to that he served as Meherpur DC.
According to the Civil Surgeon office, as many as 1,515 people have been infected with the coronavirus and 25 died of the disease in Tangail so far.
On April 8, the first Covid-19 case was detected in the district.
