An one-year-old child has been bashed to the ground and killed reportedly by his father for crying excessively in Shilamandi of Sadar upazila, Narsingdi.
The accused, Sumon Miah, 26, a driver’s assistant and a drug addict, was arrested after the incident that took place on Monday afternoon.
In a statement, police said, the couple along with their infant son, Shubho, was taking a nap, when the child started crying. The father of the child threw him on to the floor in a rampage and placed his feet on the bloodied infant that killed him on the spot.
Hearing the infant’s mother, Mitu’s screams, locals rushed to the spot and caught Suman on the act. Later he was handed over to the police.
Locals said Sumon was a drug addict and infamous for his temper in the area. The poor infant was the only child of the couple and used to cry a lot for some unknown reason.
Confirming the incident, Sadar Model police station OC Syeduzzaman said: “We arrested the accused. We will take legal action after the filing of a complaint.”
