Police arrested a man from Hapunia village of Nagaon on Saturday, in a case filed for raping and impregnating a schoolgirl in Nandigram upazila, Bogra.
The arrested Ruhul Kuddus 55, lives at Dariapur Shapara village in Nandigram upazila, said Nandigram police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shawkat Kabir.
"Ruhul was sent to jail on Sunday following a court order," he added.
According to the case statement, Ruhul Kuddus would teach twelve to fifteen girls Arabic at his home. Four months back, the accused raped one of the girls and threatened her not to disclose the matter to her parents.
Recently, the family noticed the girl's physical changes and took her to a private diagnostic centre, where they found out that she was 4 months pregnant.
She then opened up about the assault to her family. The parents later filed the case against Ruhul Kuddus on Friday.
