Police have arrested two people from Kushtia for their reported involvement in harassing four journalists.
The arrestees are Saidul Islam, owner of Ekota Diagnostic Centre and Alamin Sheikh, an MBBS doctor--who has been alleged to be a village doctor treating patients at the hospital by falsifying his real credentials.
The plaintiff of the case, Hasibur Rahman Riju, editor of Daily Saitya Khabar and a local correspondent of Asian Television Network, said doctor Alamin had long been treating critical patients of the area by falsifying his original credentials.
“On Monday around 12pm, I along with three other local journalists went to the hospital to record the illicit operations. However, when we reached there, five outlaws, provoked by the owner Saidul and Dr Alamin, attacked us,” said the journalist.
“Not only that, but also they broke our recording devices and took away our smartphones,” added the plaintiff of the case.
After the superintendent of police of the district was informed, he sent out police to the spot and they rescued us from the culprits, said the journalists.
Later, policemen from the Kushtia Model police station arrested the duo and a case was filed accusing 5 people, confirmed the OC of the station.
