Jessore route gets more flights as Biman cancels all till Thursday

CAAB is allowing the operations of flights in the Jessore route from Thursday on a limited scale

Two private airlines, US-Bangla and Novoair Airlines, has decided to operate flights from Dhaka to Jessore complying with all health safety guidelines.

Meanwhile, Biman Bangladesh Airlines cancelled all its flights scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday due to shortage of passengers.

Tahera Khondoker, deputy general manager (Public Relations) of Biman, confirmed the decision to Dhaka Tribune on Wednesday.

However, US-Bangla will operate five daily flights from Dhaka to Jessore, said US-Bangla General Manager (public relations) Kamrul Islam.

The flights will leave Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka for Jessore Airport at 7:15am, 8:15pm, 10:50am, 4:30pm and 7:15pm every day and will leave Jessore for Dhaka at 8:30am, 9:30am, 12:05pm, 5:45pm, and 8:30pm every day.

The minimum fare for Dhaka to Jessore is fixed at Tk2,499.

At present, US-Bangla operates six flights from Dhaka to Chittagong, one to Sylhet, and three to Syedpur. 

The private airline has a total of 13 aircraft including six brand new ATR 72-600, 3 Dash 8-Q400, and 4 Boeing 737-800.

US-Bangla Airlines uses its brand new ATR 72-600 and Dash 8-Q400 aircraft to operate flights on domestic routes. 

There is an air-conditioned shuttle bus service from Jessore Airport to Khulna. There are also shuttle bus services from Chittagong and Syedpur airports.

US-Bangla expects to operate flights from Dhaka to Cox's Bazar, Rajshahi, and Barisal soon.

Another private airline Novoair is going to operate three flights to Jessore from Thursday. 

The airline will also operate three flights in the Chittagong route, one in the Sylhet route, and four in the Saidpur route, Novoair Senior Marketing and Sales Manager AKM Mahfuzul Alam made the announcement.

Civil Aviation Authority, Bangladesh (CAAB) is allowing the operation of flights in the Jessore route from Thursday on a limited scale.

The aviation authority had partially resumed domestic flight operations from June 1 on four domestic routes including Dhaka, Chittagong, Sylhet and Saidpur.
