6 RAB officials among 8 more test positive for Covid-19 in Nilphamari

Locals of the district have held the local administration responsible for the surge of infection and claimed that the administration was proven failed to implement the lock-down properly at the district

At least eight people, including six Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) officials, have tested positive for covid-19 till Monday in Nilphamari district.

The samples were sent to Dinajpur M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital’s PCR lab and came out to be positive on Monday, said Dr Ranajit Kumar Barman, civil surgeon of the district.

“The six officials are from RAB-13, CPC-2 unit and the two other locals are from Domar and Syedpur upazilas,” said the civil surgeon.

Around 1,310 samples were collected and 92 people were tested positive while 33 have recovered from the deadly disease, according to to the civil surgeon’s office.

Among the covid-19 patients, two people have died, said Dr Ranajit.

However, concerned people of the six upazilas of the district have claimed that the local administration was failed to implement the lock-down properly at the district.

They also said the overwhelming surge of people at the local markets for eid-shopping led to the sudden growth of infected patients in the district.
