Three people died and at least five others were injured when a microbus rammed a pickup truck on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Narayanganj.
The accident took place at the district's Siddhirganj Upazila on Friday, said local police station OC Kamrul Faruq.
The deceased have been identified as Rafiqul Islam, 62, of Matlab North upazila of Chandpur; Mintu Mia, 58, of Mohdipur of Palashbari area under Gaibandha and Borhan Uddin, 60, of Munshiganj’s Tungipara.
The injured have been sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for treatment. Their identities are yet to be confirmed but all of them are raw goods suppliers.
Police and witnesses say, a microbus lost control and hit a pickup van from behind.

The deceased Rafiqul’s nephew Md Sunny said: “Some seven to eight people were travelling to Dhaka from Kanchpur on a pickup truck. They stopped near Sanarpar area for some errand and that is when a microbus hit them.
The passengers fell off the van and three of them were run over by the microbus. Four others were severely injured and taken to DMCH by the locals.
Siddhirganj police station OC Kamrul Faruq said: “The dead bodies were sent to the Sadar general hospital for post mortem and later they were handed over to their families.
