At least four people including two Palli Bidyut Samity officials were killed in lightning strikes in Shariatpur and Lakshmipur on Monday.
The deceased were identified as Md Saiful Hoque Khan, Md Mostafizur Rahman, Md Shahjahan Sardar, and Kamal Hossain.
Md Saiful Haque Khan and Md Mostafizur Rahman Khan were respectively the assistant general manager and an assistant junior engineer of Palli Bidyut Samity zonal office in Damudya upazila, Shariatpur. The other two deceased were farmers of Lakshimpur.
Md Zulfikar Rahman, managing director of Shariatpur PalliBidyut Samity said both of the deceased officials took shelter at an under construction building on their way to home from work during a thunderstorm. They died on the spot after a lightning bolt struck them.
In Lakshmipur, MdShahjahan died when a thunder bolt hit him at Charkachiya village in Raipur upazila, reports our correspondent Saiful Islam.
Kamal Hossain died when he went out to bring cattle in Charkadiriyavillage in Kamalnagar upazila.
Raipur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sabrin Chowdhury and Kamalnagar police station OC Md Nurul Abchhar confirmed the deaths.
