Police arrested a man for reportedly spreading rumours over coronavirus and creating panic from Bagmara Main Road area, Khulna.
The arrestee, Md Ruhul Amin, 22, allegedly made a baffling video on the video-sharing platform Youtube, falsely claiming Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader contracted the deadly coronavirus to create panic among the netizens.
Police, however, made a drive to a house on that area on a tip-off on Tuesday evening and arrested Ruhul Amin, said Deputy Commissioner and Media Convenor Sheikh Moniruzzaman Mithu of Khulna Metropolitan Police.
He said: “We arrested Ruhul on account of creating panic over the honourable minister being tested coronavirus positive and later filed a case under the Digital Security Act to prevent others to spread this kind of nonsense.”
