Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) Mayor Selina Hayat Ivy urged the authorities concerned, including Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, to impose a curfew in the city to stop the spread of coronavirus.
A press release, signed by NCC Chief Executive Officer Abul Amin, was issued in this regard, on Sunday.
The notice also said there is an outbreak of coronavirus in the industrial area.
Narayanganj has a large number of workers as an Export Processing Zone (EPZ), garment factories as well as wholesale markets of rice, lentil, flour and so on are in the city.
For this reason, a coronavirus outbreak may go out of control if a curfew or a complete lock down is not imposed right now, the press release added.
The city corporation requested the authorities concerned to impose curfew at a time when the deadly novel coronavirus has infected 88 people and killed nine in Bangladesh until Sunday.
