Bogra administration has put 10 houses under lockdown after the death of a 50-year old man in Daridaha village of Shibganj upazila.
The deceased was identified as Masud Rana, 50, of Kahalu upazila in Bogra.
Shibganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Alamgir Kabir said 10 houses have been put under lockdown in the area after the death of the man from breathing complications on Saturday morning, reports UNB.
Mostafizur Rahman Tuhin, deputy civil surgeon, Bogra, said they have contacted Prof Dr Meerjady Sabrina Flora, director of the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) in this regard.
“Prof Flora told us to send samples of the deceased to Dhaka and complete the funeral after wrapping the body with personal protection equipment,” said Tuhin, adding that a group of physicians have been sent to the area.
Locals said Masud used to do business in Dhaka and went to his house at the Daridah area in Shibganj upazila on (Tuesday) March 24, as he was suffering from fever, cough, and throat ache.
His condition deteriorated on Friday night and he died around 8am on Saturday morning, local people said.
Bangladesh on Saturday reported no new coronavirus case or death from the disease in the last 24 hours.
The death toll from novel coronavirus (Covid-19) reached 27,359 globally as of Saturday.
It has so far infected 597,185 people around the world, according to Worldometer.
