Chittagong road accident: Death toll rises to 15

Four more people are undergoing treatment

Three more people have died in the road accident in Lohagara upazila of Chittagong, taking the death toll to 15.

Four more people are undergoing treatment at Lohagara Upazila Health Complex and Chittagong Medical College and Hospital (CMCH).

Lohagara police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Zakir Hossain and CMCH police outpost Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Alauddin Talukder confirmed the number of casualties to Dhaka Tribune on Sunday morning.

Earlier, 12 people were killed and seven others injured in a collision between a salt-laden truck and a human haulier in Chunati on the Chittagong-Cox's Bazar highway around 9:30pm on Saturday.

All the deceased are men who were the passengers of the human haulier. Details of their identities could not be known immediately. 

OC Zakir Hossain said all the 12 people died on the spot.

Soon after the accident, four injured were sent to the upazila health complex and three others to CMCH.

One of the injured was declared dead by the on-duty physician at the upazila health complex, the OC added. 

ASI Alauddin said two injured were pronounced dead by the physicians soon after they were brought at the hospital.
