Four suspected drug dealers including two local Chhatra League leaders were arrested for possession of narcotics in Kurigram and Comilla.
In Kurigram, DB police arrested two local Chhatra League leaders with 30 yaba pills in their possession Thursday night.
The arrested Ershadul Hoque and Sofiqul Islam were respectively the president and vice president of the Ramkhana union unit Chhatra League in Nageshwari upazila.
Kurigram DB police OC Mokhlesur Rahman said the arrested will be produced before court after a case is filed against them under the Narcotics Control Act.
Md Anisur Rahman, general secretary of Nageshwari upazila Chhatra League, said: "Ershadul was known to be dealing drugs for quite some time."
He added that a report will be sent to senior leaders of the organization so that Ershadul and Sofiqul may be expelled.
In Comilla, DB police on Friday arrested a drug dealer with 8,000 yaba pills during a drive on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway at Alekharchar Bissho Road in Sadar upazila.
The arrested Mamun Miya had been dealing drugs for a while now while also working as a truck driver, said DB police Sub-Inspector Porimal Chandra Das.
Meanwhile, RAB 11 detained a drug dealer with 5,600 yaba pills in Sadar South upazila.
The arrested Shafiquk Islam, 35, had been collected drugs from Teknaf and supplied them across the country.
Comilla RAB 11 CPC 2 Company Commander Maj Talukder Nazmus Sakib said the narcotics were worth approximately Tk11.2 lakh.
