Missing minor girl found dead: The throat-slit body of a minor girl, who went missing Wednesday afternoon, was found in Kashiani upazila of Gopalganj district early on Thursday. Deceased Suma Khanam,6, was the daughter of Mizan Sheikh of Chapta village in the upazila. She was a first grader at Chapta 22 No Govt Primary School. Kashiani police SI Ganesh Biswas said Suma went missing from Capta rail station. Local people found the body at an abandoned place in Kusumdia village around 3am and informed police.

Unidentified woman crushed under train: An unidentified woman, aged about 60, was crushed under the wheels of a train in Purbadhala upazila of Netrakona on Thursday morning. Locals said a Balaka Commuter train coming from Dhaka crushed the woman when she was crossing the rail line in Nayabazar area around 11 am, leaving her dead on the spot.

Fire breaks out at godown in Chittagong: A fire broke out at an empty can godown at Double Mooring in Kadamtali area of Chittagong on Thursday noon. The fire broke out at 3 pm near Matiarpool Pier Ali Masjid. Rezaul Kabir, senior station officer of Agrabad Fire Station, confirmed the matter He said: “On information, three fire fighting units rushed to the spot and doused the fire”. Cause of the fire could not be known immediately.

14 shops burnt down: At least 14 shops were burned down when a fire broke out at a market in Sadar upazila of Noakhali on Thursday. The fire originated in a shop in Bhatirtak Choumuhani Bazar at early hours and soon engulfed the entire area. After getting information, four firefighting units rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire after two hours of frantic efforts. Fire Service and Civil Defence station officer Azizul Haque confirmed the incident.

34 CU students injured as bus falls into ditch: At least 34 students of Chittagong University, were injured as a bus fell into a road-side ditch at Fatikchhari upazila of Chittagong on Thursday morning. The university-bound BRTC bus, coming from Fatikchhari, fell into the ditch in Moniapukur's Chairman Ghata around 9am, said CU Proctor SM Monirul Hasan. The accident happened as the vehicle lost control while trying to make way for another bus coming from the opposite side, the proctor said.
