Quoting witnesses, police said Raj Babu was sitting on the rail line when Dhaka-bound Lalmoni Express, hailing from Lalmonirhat, was crossing Bogra’s Kahaloo Railway Station around 1.30pm. Noticing the approaching train, Felani tried to save Babu, but both of them died after being run over by the speeding train.

Some of the local witnesses said mentally challenged Babu tried to jump in front of the train after quarreling with his family.

Bogra Railway Police Sub-Inspector Firojul Islam said the bodies were handed over to the victims’ family.

In Gopalganj, a hearing impaired man died after being run over by a train in the district’s Kashiani upazila on Sunday around 11pm.
