Army personnel killed in Chittagong road crash

The accident left another injured

A Bangladesh Army personnel has died and another has been left injured in a road accident on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway, in the Fouzdarhat area of Sitakunda upazila in Chittagong.

The incident occurred around 9:45pm on Tuesday, reports UNB.

The deceased is Sheikh Sabbir Ahmed, 38, son of Sheikh Jamil of Khulna’s Phultala upazila. He was a lance corporal at Bhatiari Military Academy.

The identity of the injured could not be ascertained yet. After the crash, he was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Abdul Awal, officer-in-charge (OC) of Baro Aulia highway police camp, confirmed the matter.

He said: “Sabbir fell off his motorbike after being hit by a vehicle. He was run over by another vehicle soon after the crash, and died on the spot.”

The injured was riding on the same motorbike with Sabbir, the OC added.
