A 12-year-old child labourer died, reportedly after his co-worker pumped air through the boy's rectum in Bogra.
The incident took place at Kahaloo upazila's Afrin Jute Mill on Friday morning.
The deceased identified as Alal Hossain, 12, was the son of Mozahar Ali a resident of Dhakanta village.
Police have arrested the 17-year-old co-worker who reportedly pumped air through Alal's rectum that resulted in his death.
According to sources, around 11am on Friday, the suspected co-worker took the compressed air machine used for cleaning equipment in the factory, and pumped air though Alal's rectum.
As Alal's condition deteriorated right after the incident, he was rescued by other factory workers, and taken to the Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College (SZMC) around 11:30am.
12-year-old Alal Hossain succumbed to his injuries around 3pm there.
Confirming the matter to Dhaka Tribune, Kahaloo police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Zia Latiful Islam said: "We have detained the suspect. He admitted that he pumped air through Alal's rectum just for fun.
"Body of the deceased has been sent to the morgue for autopsy. A case will be filed in this regard very soon."
