Six workers have been died from toxic gas while cleaning a septic tank in Joypurhat.
The incident took place Jaffarpur area under Akkelpur upazila of Joypurhat around 9am on Wednesday.
The six deceased are Pritam Chandra Das, 20; Bhutto Chandra Das, 40; Shahin Hossain, 35; Mukul Hossain, 35; Sajal Hossain, 15, and Shihab Hossain, 18.
Confirming the matter, Akkelpur police station Officer-in-charge Kiron Kumar Roy said: "A few days ago, these workers casting concrete in one Nikhil Kumar's new septic tank.
“They opened the lid on Wednesday morning to clean the tank. They died after inhaling the toxic gas.”
On information, the firefighters went to the spot. Three of the workers died on the spot while the other three died on the way to hospital, he concluded.
