A 70-year-old man from Natore’s Singra upazila has been accused of raping a second grade student.
According to Singra police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Monirul Islam, on Thursday afternoon, Lokman Ali, the accused, allegedly lured the girl – who was playing near him – into a vacant house nearby and tried to rape her.
The resident of the house returned at the opportune moment, interrupting Lokman. The girl fled to her father and revealed what transpired. An angry mob detained Lokman and beat him up.
Local UP Chairman Rashidul Islam Mridha handed Lokman over to the police when they arrived.
The child’s father has filed a case with the police.
