7 alleged war criminals arrested in Nilphamari

The accused will be transferred to the International Crimes Tribunal in Dhaka on Tuesday

Police have arrested seven accused in Nilphamari – who have been charged with crimes against humanity during the 1971 Liberation War.

Police conducted raids at different areas of Dimla upazila, and arrested the accused on Monday, confirmed Superintendent of Police (SP) Md Ashraf Hossain

The arrestees are: Md Ekramul Haque, 78, Abdus Sattar, 79, Md Abdul khaleque, 71, Md Mokhlesar Rahman Khoka, 76, Md Shahidullah Sarkar, 70, Md Nurul Hoque, 65, and Md Shahadat Hossain, 68.

SP Md Ashraf said the accused were arrested pursuant to a court order in case number 04/2019 which was  filed with the International Crimes Tribunal, in Dhaka, on November 20, 2017.

"All of the accused will be transferred to the International Crimes Tribunal in Dhaka, on Tuesday afternoon," he added.
