Police have yet to arrest the OC (investigation) of Sonagazi Model police station, Kamal Hossain, another suspect in the murder of Feni madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi.
According to allegations raised against him, Kamal, while aiding Sonagazi OC Moazzem Hossain, filed a case over Nusrat’s death excluding the prime accused, Sirajuddaula, who was the principal of Nusrat’s madrasa, by forging her brother Mahmudul Hasan’s signature.
Instead, they filed the case accusing four masked men and several other unknown associates.
After the matter gained media attention, Kamal took charge of the investigation and registered the case filed by Nusrat’s family members.
Furthermore, when Nusrat went to Sonagazi police station after suffering sexual harassment in the hands of Sirajuddaula, Moazzem harassed her while Kamal recorded the entire exchange on video, the case document says.
Later on April 6, when Nusrat was set on fire on the roof of her madrasa, Kamal was directly involved in arresting and torturing seven innocent individuals, including a madrasa student, a peon, a security guard, and a banker.
His motive was to shield the guilty party by framing the innocent individuals, according to the case details.
