Jessore police have received the arrest warrant issued against the former officer-in-charge (OC) of Feni’s Sonagazi police station, Moazzem Hossain.

The warrant was received on Wednesday.

Additional Superintendent of Jessore Police (Special Branch) Ansar Uddin confirmed the matter saying Moazzem's relatives and houseare under police surveillance.

The former OC's house isin Dalmil Raipara of the Jessore’s Chanchra area. His sister and two brothers—along with their mother—now reside in the house.

The Dhaka Cyber Tribunal issued an arrest warrant, on May 27, in a case filed under the Digital Security Act.

The former OC was accused of illegally interrogating madrasa student Nusrat and recording the incident on his phone. The video was later circulated on social media.

Nusrat, an Alim examinee—and a student of Sonagazi Islamia Fazil (Degree) Madrasa—died on April 10 from injuries she sustained when supporters of madrasa principal, Md Sirajuddaula, set her on fire on the madrasa premises on April 6.

She had previously lodged a sexual harassment complaint with Sonagazi police station against Sirajuddaula on March 27.  He was subsequently arrested and jailed. Nusrat was set on fire when Sirajuddaula's associates failed to intimidate her into withdrawing the complaint.

On April 30, a five-member probe panel led by DIG SM Ruhul Amin submitted its report on the role of the police in Nusrat’s murder case.
