Road crashes kill 50 during eid holidays

The accidents took place across the country from Tuesday to Friday

At least 50 people were killed in separate road accidents across the country during the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays from Tuesday to Friday.

In Cox's Bazar, five people were killed and 20 others injured in separate road accidents on Friday. Three Rohingyas were killed while 15 others injured as a pick-up van turned turtle in the Noakhali area on Marine Drive around 12 pm.

In another incident, two people were killed as a bus and a microbus collided head-on at Medhakocchopia of Chakariya Upazila around 12pm.

In Lalmonirhat, three were killed and six others injured in separate road accidents on Wednesday.

The driver of a human hawler lost control over the steering and crushed into a memorial leaving three dead and six others injured.

In Narail, a man died having being hit by a motorcycle while crossing road on the Sarshuna-Manikganj Highway in Sarshuna of the Lohagora upazila around 9am.

Locals took the injured to Narail Sadar Hospital where the duty doctor declared him dead.

In Bogra, a woman was killed, hit by a motorcycle at Tengra in the sadar upazila around 11am.

In Sirajganj, the driver and a passenger were killed after a car flipped over and crashed into a roadside tree in the Harinachara area of the Tarash upazila on Thursday. 

In Sherpur, a bus driver died in a head-on collision between two buses at Garidaha around 11:45am on Thursday.

The accident occurred when a Bogra-bound Korotoa bus collided head-on with a Dhaka-bound Apu Paribahan bus, killing driver Shahidul Islam of the Korotoa bus on the spot.

In Naogaon, a young man died after a motorcycle hit his rickshaw on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Rakibul Hasan, 23. 

In Lalmonirhat, a man died as his tractor turned turtle in Kulaghat of the sadar upazila on Thursday. 

In Bogra, a college student was killed when his motorcycle collided head-on with a microbus at Gokul on the Dhaka-Rangpur highway on Thursday.

In Bhola, two brothers were killed in a head-on collision between a bus and a motorcycle along the Bhola-Char Fassion road near Baro Manika in the Borhanuddin upazila on Thursday afternoon. 

In Faridpur, six people were killed and 20 others injured as a bus of AK Travels rammed into a roadside tree on the Dhaka-Khulna Highway at Dhuldi in the sadar upazila on Wednesday.

In Savar, two people were killed in separate road accidents on the Dhaka-Manikganj highway at Dhamrai in the morning.

In Jhenaidah, two young men were killed in a motorcycle accident in the Moheshpur area in the morning. 

In Bogra, a pick-up van driver was crushed to death by another vehicle at the Kunderhaat bus stand in the Nandigram area on Wednesday evening.

In Narsingdi, three people were killed while 10 others injured in two separate accidents on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway on Wednesday. 

In Tangail, two people were killed and seven injured in a road accident near the Bangabandhu Bridge highway on Wednesday.

Locals said a pick-up van, while overtaking a motorcycle, collided head-on with Dhaka-bound bus, killing one on the spot. 

In Gazipur, a motorcyclist was killed while trying to avoid running over a goat on the Sreepur-Satkhamai highway. Eight others were also injured in four other motorcycles accidents.

In Lalmonirhat, four people were killed—and 20 others injured— when a pick-up truck ploughed into the Shaheed Minar beside the road in the Kurigram upazila on Wednesday.

In Pirojpur, two motorcyclists were killed —and one pillion-rider injured— after a head-on collision on the Baleshwar Bridge along the Pirojpur-Bagerhat road on Wednesday.

The deceased are Sohan Sardar, 25, and Swapon Saha of the Sadar upazila.

In Sirajganj, at least four people were killed and 20 others injured as a bus fell into a roadside ditch on Tuesday.

The deceased were identified as Hamidul Islam, 34, Shahjahan Ali, 35, Fazlul Haque, 35, and Ataur Rahman, 32. 

In Narayanganj, four people were killed and 16 others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a three-wheeler in the Tarabo municipality area of the Rupganj upazila on Tuesday morning. 

In Netrokona, a man was killed under the wheels of a moving bus at the Kendua bus stand on Tuesday morning.
