Police have arrested three men over the rape and murder of a disabled woman in Alikadam upazila of Bandarban.
The arrestees have confessed to the crimes.
They are Trimothiyo Tripura, Joy Kumar Tangchanga, and John Tripura. All of them are residents of Alikadam upazila.
The deceased is Lakaching Tangchanga, 32. She was hung from a tree after being murdered on November 25 last year.
Police recovered her body and sent it to Bandarban Sadar Hospital for an autopsy.
After the autopsy report came in, a murder case was filed by nephew of the deceased, Kanuman Tangchanga, at Alikadam police station.
Police were recently able to arrest the trio.
Alikadam police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rafiqullah said: “We were finally able to arrest them after six long months. All three confessed to their involvement in Lakaching Tangchanga’s murder.”
Kanuman Tangchanga said: “We hope Lakaching’s soul can rest in peace now. We want the murderers to get exemplary punishment.”
