The deceased, Abdullah Al Payel, is the son of Sultan Mahmud, hailing from Satra Champaknagar area of Sadar upazila.

BGB 10 battalion’s Captain Lt Col Abu Mohammad Mohiuddin said: “The drug dealers had started shooting at a BGB patrol team after seeing them approaching, forcing the BGB personnel to retaliate in self-defence.

“One of the drug traders was injured in this process.”

The injured was then admitted to Comilla Medical College Hospital, where the doctors declared him dead. Later the body was sent to the morgue for autopsy.

BGB also recovered 2,000 yaba pills from the scene.
