Hearing of the unfathomable cruelty done unto the child, named Ekush after the day he was discovered, numerous families clamoured to adopt him.
On Wednesday, a Chittagong court granted custody of the child to the couple of Dr Zakir Islam and Shakila Akter.
Special Public Prosecutor MA Fayez told the Dhaka Tribune: “Child Affairs Court Judge Jannatul Ferdous listed a condition - to open an education insurance of Tk10 lakh for Ekush, and then take custody of him from Chittagong medical authorities.”
