Police have arrested a teenager in a case filed for raping his three-year-old cousin in Fakirhat upazila of Bagerhat.
Arman Sheikh, 16, was detained from Bahirdia in Fakirhat upazila, on Friday night. The incident occurred on Thursday.
Fakirhat police station OC, Md Abu Zahid Sheikh, confirmed and said: “The girl's mother filed a case with the Fakirhat police station following the incident.
“We sent the child to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital for medical tests on Saturday morning, and the accused has been sent to court.”
The arrested and the girl are cousins and lived in the same house, the OC added.
After the incident, the child fell sick and her mother took her to Fakirhat Upazila Health Complex, where doctors provided primary treatment and referred her to Khulna Medical College Hospital.
