The National Human Rights Commission has warned against the rhetoric against the Ahmadiyya community, calling it communal instigation.
In a letter to Panchagarh district administration on Tuesday, NHRC warned that an Islamic convention there whose poster contained such rhetoric, was a potential threat to law and order and public safety.
The Islamic convention – Khatme Nabuwat Shommelon - was held on Tuesday on the grounds of Bir Muktijoddha Sirajul Islam Stadium in Panchagarh.
Their poster contained calls for declaring the Ahmadiyyas as non-Muslims and “stopping their conspiracies.”
The NHRC warned that under the constitution, all citizens had the freedom to observe their own faith, free speech and the right to assemble.

“But issuing instigating, aggressive and derogatory remarks against another community from an assembly is completely unacceptable and threatens to destroy communal harmony,” the commission said.
Meanwhile, at this event, hardline cleric Shah Ahmed Shafi, chief of Hefazat-e-Islam, demanded once again that the Ahmadiyya Muslim community be declared as non-Muslims.
His written speech was read by his son Anas Madani.
"This demand is a necessity of our faith. Those who think Qadianis are Muslim are not Muslim," said Shafi.
