Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scientific-minded and promotes research in the field of science, Deputy Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel said on Friday.
Speaking at the inauguration of an international conference, named “Advances in Life Sciences,” in Tangail on Friday morning, Nowfel said: “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina knows that without science and research, the country will not move forward. So after coming to power in 1996, she allocated considerable amount of budget and resources to this sector.”
As a result, education, health and agriculture sectors, as well as other sectors, have achieved great success over the years, he added.
Nowfel inaugurated the two-day conference, being held at Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University.
Academicians, researchers and students from home and abroad are participating in the conference, organized by the university’s Faculty of Life Sciences.
Tangail Sadar lawmaker Sanwar Hossain spoke as a special guest at the inaugural ceremony, whileFaculty of Life Sciences Dean Prof ASM Saifullah delivered the welcoming speech.
Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University Vice-Chancellor Prof Alauddin chaired the event.
